Wavy Hair-grass
Deschampsia flexuosa
Light and airy flowerheads
On branches thin as sewing thread;
July brings wavy hair-girss
To cover all the moorland:
A swathe of pink, of purplish mist
Swayed by every tirl of wind,
Good grazing for a heft of sheep
With some to carry home asleep
In your arms, as light as air,
Your bairn with tousie swirls of hair.
